On 17th April 2026, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) proposed Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Futures Companies and its supporting implementation regulations.
The new Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Futures Companies change the management of futures market-making and derivatives trading businesses, which were previously operated by risk management subsidiaries and subject to registration, approval, and self-regulation by the China Futures Association, to futures companies. It also implements licensing and administrative supervision, strengthening the oversight of futures company subsidiaries and branches. The Announcement on Relevant Matters Concerning the Implementation of the Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Futures Companies outlines arrangements for the relevant business activities of subsidiaries and the transition between the old and new rules.
