On 15th May 2019, it was announced that Quito will host the signing of the Trade Agreement between the United Kingdom and Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
Since August 2018, Ecuador, together with the two neighbouring countries, undertook a dialogue and negotiations with the United Kingdom, so as not to lose commercial advantages in the event that that country left the European Union (EU).
The instrument signed on 15th May 2019is a multipart agreement, with characteristics very similar to that signed with the EU and which is in effect since 2017, said the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment.
