On 21st July 2026, the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) implemented revisions to its policy on managing the PSE Index Series. The changes are part of the Exchange’s initiatives to ensure that the PSE indices remain aligned with global standards and responsive to evolving market needs.
The salient amendments to the index management policy are as follows:
- Adoption of a 98% cumulative market capitalization threshold as an additional criterion for index inclusion.
- Implementation of the Median Trading Activity Ratio (MTAR) and Monthly Average Daily Value Turnover (MADV) as new liquidity measures, replacing the previous liquidity criterion.
- Introduction of an exception to the minimum free float requirement, reducing it from 20% to 15% for companies with a market capitalization of at least Two Hundred Fifty Billion Philippine Pesos (Php250,000,000,000), provided all other index inclusion criteria are satisfied.
These amendments will be implemented in the February 2027 index rebalancing, to provide market participants sufficient time to review the changes.
